Two British NCOs, hanged by plucky little Israel, 1948,
their bodies booby-trapped.

'Two British spies held in underground captivity since July 12 have been tried after the completion of the investigations of their "criminal anti-Hebrew activities" on the following charges: 1. Illegal entry into the Hebrew homeland. 2. Membership of a British criminal terrorist organisation known as the Army of Occupation which was responsible for the torture, murder, deportation, and denying the Hebrew people the right to live. 3. Illegal possession of arms. 4. Anti-Jewish spying in civilian clothes. 5. Premeditated hostile designs against the underground. Found guilty of these charges they have been sentenced to hang and their appeal for clemency dismissed. This is not a reprisal for the execution of three Jews but a "routine judicial fact."'[5

Jewish British MP Likens Israel to Nazis

Powerful remarks by Gerald Kaufman during a debate on Gaza in the House of Commons today:

"My parents came to Britain as refugees from Poland. Most of their families were subsequently murdered by the Nazis in the holocaust. My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town of Staszow. A German soldier shot her dead in her bed.

My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza. The current Israeli Government ruthlessly and cynically exploit the continuing guilt among gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians. The implication is that Jewish lives are precious, but the lives of Palestinians do not count.

On Sky News a few days ago, the spokeswoman for the Israeli army, Major Leibovich, was asked about the Israeli killing of, at that time, 800 Palestinians—the total is now 1,000. She replied instantly that “500 of them were militants.”

That was the reply of a Nazi. I suppose that the Jews fighting for their lives in the Warsaw ghetto could have been dismissed as militants.

The Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni asserts that her Government will have no dealings with Hamas, because they are terrorists. Tzipi Livni’s father was Eitan Livni, chief operations officer of the terrorist Irgun Zvai Leumi, who organised the blowing-up of the King David hotel in Jerusalem, in which 91 victims were killed, including four Jews.

Israel was born out of Jewish terrorism. Jewish terrorists hanged two British sergeants and booby-trapped their corpses. Irgun, together with the terrorist Stern gang, massacred 254 Palestinians in 1948 in the village of Deir Yassin. Today, the current Israeli Government indicate that they would be willing, in circumstances acceptable to them, to negotiate with the Palestinian President Abbas of Fatah. It is too late for that. They could have negotiated with Fatah’s previous leader, Yasser Arafat, who was a friend of mine. Instead, they besieged him in a bunker in Ramallah, where I visited him. Because of the failings of Fatah since Arafat’s death, Hamas won the Palestinian election in 2006. Hamas is a deeply nasty organisation, but it was democratically elected, and it is the only game in town. The boycotting of Hamas, including by our Government, has been a culpable error, from which dreadful consequences have followed.

The great Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Eban, with whom I campaigned for peace on many platforms, said: “You make peace by talking to your enemies.”

However many Palestinians the Israelis murder in Gaza, they cannot solve this existential problem by military means. Whenever and however the fighting ends, there will still be 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza and 2.5 million more on the west bank. They are treated like dirt by the Israelis, with hundreds of road blocks and with the ghastly denizens of the illegal Jewish settlements harassing them as well. The time will come, not so long from now, when they will outnumber the Jewish population in Israel.

It is time for our Government to make clear to the Israeli Government that their conduct and policies are unacceptable, and to impose a total arms ban on Israel. It is time for peace, but real peace, not the solution by conquest which is the Israelis’ real goal but which it is impossible for them to achieve. They are not simply war criminals; they are fools."

For once, it is impossible to disagree with Gerald Kaufmann, MP, above, except to note that he is foolish in the extreme to expect this shower of shit, any of them, to be even vaguely acquainted with truth and decency, much less stand-up for them.

I expect the families and comrades of the two British sergeants, not shot or bombed but hanged, hanged, mind, by Israel's future prime minister, Begin and his chums, might depart from blanket legitimising of the Israeli state's actions - but no matter, we are where we are, that was then and this is now, the bottom line is, at the end of the day blah blah blah and a dead lieutenant-colonel in the hand is worth two sergeants hanging on public display; hanged by the neck, British troops, as part of some biblical fundamentalism, blessed are the noosemakers, eh?

Neatly, subtly, Israel is cast as allied to us, in fighting the Mohammedan Talimen, when in fact it is we who are allied to her, killing Palestinians. For Jehovah. Abrahamic wars for the new millenium.

But never mind, we are where we are, no point crying over spilled sergeants. Let us focus on the wogs, not the yids, for the yids are sort of white men, nearly-Americans, anyway, only with their cocks trimmed, innit. Plucky little Israel. In the best tradition of UK blogging, let us not trouble ourselves overmuch with the actual history, that Israel is and ever was, as Kaufmann insists, a terrorist state. Not when there’s madeupnewsandfilth to keep us on the straight, Old Testament path.

At some point, it seems the barbarians become statesmen and allies, as with Begin and with Messrs Adams and McKneeCaps: unfortunately, in the case of the late Mr Saddam Hussein,
having eventually, after some effort, incurred the displeasure of the world’s moral arbiter, policeman and executioner, Uncle Sam, the process happened in reverse. One day our stalwart, if boistrous ally, the next the author of the 9/11 atrocity and seconds away from toasting our boys in Akrotiri, public strangulation his only career option. I wonder what it is that Hamas needs to do in order to gain the imprimatur of the righteous, they are already democratically elected at home why are we so down on them and not, just for instance, the monstrous, geriatric Chink regime?

It is ethically arbitrary, this alliance with Israel uber Alles, there is no morality in it and if we sought proof of that we might wonder why a bunch of melon and grapefruit farmers have one of the mightiest - nuclear - armies on Earth, equipped with GlobaDeath's very latest aircraft, in order to surgically dismember its neighbouring infants?

We can be sure that if Israel's sponsors in Washington had permitted her to unleash the full onslaught - which so many fawningly credit her with restraining - then she would have done so, beseeching Jehovah to deliver her to the Promised Land, and fuck everybody else, fucking nutcases. We think Brown the Presbyterian is bad enough, spare us from a legislature full of demented Hymies and Moshes pleading scriptural endorsement of their murders, prophecies, burning fucking bushes; isn't it written, in the Book somewhere, by some vile, angry, vengeful, blood-sacrificing, wife-beating sonofafuckingbitch - some Jehosephat begat Jeremiah and Jeremiah begat and Ruben and Ruben begat Benjamin and on and on - that all those not of the Tribe - ie the rest us - well, God would tell us all to go and fuck ourselves, we must be smitten and engulfed in flames. Is the future of the world really to be linked to this tosh, this bullshit, this herrenvolk-with-psalms nonsense ?

But as well as widepsread murder, terror, sanctions, blockading, bullying and monumental hypocrisy,as well as UN Resolutions ignored - unless they are in their favour - as well as the constant usurpation of others' farms, homes, lands and businesses, these holier-than-thou criminal bastards shame all who died in the Nazi Terror, those who fought, those blitzed, those enslaved and exterminated.

It is as though collectively the West has said That was some bad shit there Hymie, tell you what, just take over these folks's land and give them some, kick 'em around a bit, we'll all look the other way, they're only wogs.

The dreadful irony of this grim obeisance to monstrosity, even should it be rooted in motives shamefacedly noble, regretful, is that by our compliance we legitimise - "My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza." - not Israel but Hitler.

Don't count against it in the future. I once had the misfortune (albeit in a working capacity) to attend a Jewish fund raising get-together in Washington DC. I was seated at a table with a woman who sounded insane enough to be Sectioned.

However, I do admire you, Mr. Ishmael. I have tried elsewhere (Spectator - Melanie Philips) to convey the same line as you - though no where near so succinctly - and the predictable backlash ensued. My opinion has been forged by working and travelling in the Middle East (including Israel - seperate passport) and hearing from my grand father who served in Gaza in WW1. But no matter how clear and and well intentioned the argument, I am labelled (as you have previously pointed out) an anti-semite etc., etc...

Anyway, my compliments....

Thanks Mr Ishmael, very sobering.

For me, at least, Kaufman's final sentence sums up the self-fulfilling nature of victimhood that is at work.

Israel's strategy (judensraum?) does not satisfy even the most cynical criteria of self advancement; it is suicide.

I know one line of F. Scott FitzGerald, I think from Tender is The Night :

"Take me out of my turbulent waters and you extinguish my flame."

One of those ambiguities beloved of Mr TDG, on the face of it a contradiction but lyrically, infinitely perfect.

Is it the case that it is the very Wanderingness - haunted and hunted, despised and exploited - of Jewry which has made it's talents sparkle so ? And do they dim now, tarnished by territorial normalcy of a sort, brutish and unheroic, their lustre grimed with the smoke of napalmed infant flesh?

Does, in this bloody beginning, lie the end?

Take me out of my turbulent waters and you extinguish my flame.

Just a thought.

The Blues, of course, is less opaquely perfected:

He got what he wanted, but he lost what he had.

Sorry to be a twat, but yer know, I am but I fail to realize why it matters other than it's going on. Are we so inalienably linked to the US that our politics are just theirs? Whoops, think I answered my own question.

Some chap has mentioned that we're gonna 'have' to buy US tridents just to keep our place on t'top table at the UN and I kinda think, fuck it - given the choice of going to the UN and doing fuck all about anything or fucking off up to Scotland, best part of England with a stick in my hand and a few golf balls to whack, coupled with the prospect of kippers and some single malts afterwards - well; job done.

Blighty has been at war with fucking every nation virtually on this planet, mainly our own and our near neighbours - can we not just stop and say 'fuck it - you wanna kill each other, go on'. I think we should lecture people by our intransigent passivity but then the military industrial complex etc etc.

"Blighty has been at war with every nation virtually on this planet"

This is not true. The Kings and leaders of Blighty have, but the poor citizens have not. They have merely been doing what they have had to do.They have been doing it in order to remain free from reprisals from those their masters have ordered them to attack.
Wars are not caused by the people, they are causes by theis greedy leaders, and they, the greedy leaders do not go out to battle. But, the leaders know what is best....they tell us so.

Dear Mr Ishmael,

No, no thought of a bully pulpit, I knew exactly what to expect.

Unlike your common-or-garden jew-baiting hypocrite, prone to prefacing his remarks with “Some of my best friends are jews, but” or “Of course, I’m not anti-semitic, but”, Kaufman takes a more nuanced approach by parading the murder of his grandmother and then, despicable, prissy little coward that he is, uses this as a shield to hide behind in order to make what must rank as one the most disgraceful speeches ever made in Parliament. I don’t know whether his grandmother has a grave, but if she does, Kaufman deliberately spat on it.

It went down well, as I recall, on the Paki-net, where Kaufman was widely acclaimed and his remarks were seen as a complete vindication of their own deeply humanitarian and eminently reasonable beliefs. The fact that 1 in 4 of his constituents are Muslim would not have hurt him either, but I would not suggest this had anything to do with it, I give Kaufman credit for his hatred of his own kind being sincere.

Some have speculated that the reason for this lies in the fact that he has never been granted the respect or honour he thinks he rightfully deserves by the Anglo-Jewish hierarchy - probably for the same reason he is known as Dame, and rightfully recognised as a leading authority in the interior architectural features of Mancunian public conveniences.

As to whether “it is impossible to disagree” with Dame Geraldine’s words, I strongly disagree with virtually every word the cunt utters. This particular speech was deliberately emotive, insulting, packed with half-truths and outright lies, fit only for the ears of fools and knaves. Take just one point: “They could have negotiated with Fatah’s previous leader, Yasser Arafat, who was a friend of mine. Instead, they besieged him in a bunker in Ramallah, where I visited him.” So Israel didn’t negotiate with Arafat, but instead besieged him. Who was that, then, at Camp David with Ehud Barak? And when Barak compromised on just about everything and offered the Palestinians a deal beyond even their wildest dreams, who was it, exactly, who turned his back and walked away? Would that have been Dame Geraldine’s cocksucking mate, that well known man of peace, Arafat?

No one who has seen war at first hand ever wants to see it again, Barak was one such, a man of character, courage and honour who offered the best chance of peace we’ll see. Arafat walked away, and by the subsequent Intifada guaranteed Barak’s humiliation and removal. Job done then. Perhaps if Gerald had only weaned himself away from his £8000 telly and antique Persian carpets for five fucking minutes he might have offered his mate a few words of advice at an opportune time, but then that would suggest he actually has an interest in peace, rather than saving his vituperative bile for his own kind.

You suggest that there is always a compromise to be made, always an alternative to war. The Hamas charter guarantees the destruction of Israel, and they refuse to change one single sodding syllable. Frustrated by their inability to kill Israelis on the other side of the wall, they deliberately provoked the invasion, knowing full well what that would mean for their own people. For them, by their own admission, every Palestinian death was a victory, another martyr to be paraded on the world-wide media stage, and if it was the death of a child, so much the better, so much more valuable to their cause. How the fuck, exactly, do you compromise with such mindless, inhuman hatred?

As to a solution, if the surrounding Arab nations put away their crocodile tears and allowed inward Palestinian migration, you know, almost as if they actually cared about alleviating the plight of the Palestinian people, rather than cynically using them as a political weapon, I think there’s a pretty good chance Gaza would empty overnight. But that would never do, would it? Why is it, I wonder, that this possibility is never mentioned, and the shameful Arab treatment of their own people so ignored?

Hiya Daisy. My main problem is this government and I hope not to offend but I could not give a fuck about the Israelis; they are really not the only problem in the middle east. It is ofcourse asymmetric warfare but I still reckon Blighty wins by a good 1 million on the body count. Problem with Israelis is that they're fucking amateurs - if you gonna do something, may as well do it right eh?

I think the ragheads are starting to realize that they should shut the fuck up and start talking to each other. They're not fighting Jews or Christians or Taliban or Al Quida or the Saudis - they're just fucking fighting everyone - me no comprende. Well, obviously I do but i'm a bog-trotting Oirish Yorkshireman so I'll get a ferry maybe.

I don't think I've got my head round the different clans of judaism but will probably at some point maybe, err.. should do really s'pose. Bit flaky on Islam too.

It's a pity, Mr Daisy, that your argument is let down by the highly emotive inferences to Mr. Kaufman's sexuality, his supposed political expediency and some supposedly dodgy expence claims. Very little of what you say (although I concede correct here and there) really addresses the central point that Mr. Ishmael - as far as i can see - was making.

Thanks Mr Daisy

The fact remains, though, that the state of israel was birthed, as Kaufmann rightly reports, by teror and brutality of Nazi ferocity, your position is that it is wrong for the IRA, wrong for Hamas, wrong for the Talimen, OK for the Irgun, there is no finessing that; absurd to whine about Talimen killing British CO’s while patting the Israelis on the head for killing British NCOs; or is there a point in history when wrong becomes right, when, if we are told to by the media, we will applaud plucky Gordon Brown as you would have us now sing the praises of Benjamin Netanyahu and Ariel Sharon, both terror maestros?

You will know that here we hold no brief for Kaufmann the Injunctor but the facts, mr daisy, the facts are that he is Jewish, that his relatives were killed by the Nazis, that he did know and is right to commend Abba Eban, he is right that Arafta was blockaded, he is right that the Israeli PR machine is wickedly flippant in its dismissal of Gazan casualties but the main point regarding Kaufmann is that he is quite entitled to hold and express those views, whatever you and Melanie Phillips and Julie Burchill might think, and I am entitled to find myself in accord with him, on this occasion.

I don’t know if, as you claim, a Jew can be anti-semitic but in our brave new world of enforced political correctness I wouldn’t be surprised, I am surprised, however, at you assering it to be so, must all Jews kow-tow to the Knesset or be damned as Nazis ? Last time I looked it was OK, here, for people to be apostate, heretic or just critical of their own faith; yet you bring an Islamic fundamentalist fervour to your critique of Kaufmann; it was his grandmother, not yours, he can say whatever the fuck he wants about her, without you and Melanie and Julie requiring he be hanged at Nuremberg.

I think when Hamas start strafing their kith and kin with F16s I might share your view that they treat them worse than does civilised democratic Israel but until Uncle Sam equips them with suitable weapons of oppression I remain unconvinced that they are any more blameworthy than is the Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland and member for West Belfast, Mr Martin Kneecaps, and his chum, the great Israelist, beneficiary of a million kosher pounds and nice-guy peacemaker, Cardinal ben Blair.

It must remain, between us, a difference of judgement, a different reading of history and I guess, at bottom, just a gut feeling that one thing is right, another wrong, the sight of the little children killed by the descendants of the death camps’ victims, for me, transcends, in terms of sheer wickdness, almost anything else; as I said, the ghost of Hitler drives the tanks, pilots the aircraft deployed in Blitzkrieg, against babes in arms. Shalom.

No offence possible, Mr DtP, we non-members have to stick together. As an Oirish Liverpudlian I might join you on that ferry, we could do the full Gerry and the Pacemakers gig, or maybe not.

My apologies, Mr Caractacus, if I disappoint you. Mr Kaufman's sexuality, as you so delicately put it, was relevant in offering a possible alternative motivation for his behaviour; but only for those who, unlike your goodself, may have regarded his utterances with distaste, if not outright disgust.

Kind of you to concede that I may, inadvertantly, have hit upon the odd small nugget of truth, but as to Mr Ishmael's central point, perhaps you could tell me what that was, I'm afraid when the red mist descends I'm a little flaky on the finer points.

There was, incidentally, nothing "supposedly dodgy" about his expense claims, the man's a thief, not that that should diminish in any way from his reputation as one the great peacemakers of our times.
