A rare show of dignity, indeed, Mr Ishmael.

A fine man, Mr I. May peace find him and ease his loss.

I'm afraid that I differ with both of you, my post was sarcastic in intent, the caption, No Comment, being what people used to say, should say, were they now not mostly drawn to cameras and microphones, like moths to a fatal flame.

I first heard him on the radio, roaring down the road in my yellow rocketcar and I had to stop to properly savour his vanity, his conceit, his affectation, his assumption of the roles of mediator, conciliator, community representative; quiet, modest, private grief, that's the thing, not fucking soundbiting for a moment's celebrity. So offensive to me was he that if I hadnae stopped i would have crashed.

And he also remimded me, with his studied reasonableness, his implacability of another Birmingham man who once recounted to me how it was so very necessary that he kill his daughter, a matter of honour, Mr Ishmael,as I am sure you understand.

I think that may be unfair, Mr Ishmael, but we will not fall out over it. He is but yet in grief.

It was all a bit quick. Now the dad of that bride who was killed in South Africa was a good lad - no soundbites from he; barely keeping it together, spluttering over a 2 line statement, 'the cunt is guilty as fuck and the sooner that cunt is arse raped by psycho niggers in some shithole South African clink, the better' was just about all he managed before he regressed back to his normal state of world's end and gibbering vegetable.

Damn it, I was right and now you are right. A simple decent statement of loss and now we are a bastard community leader. The freakin' Tommy Sheridan of the hour. It is the fucking TV that does it to them.

the abysmal grief he must be suffering as he reflects on the years' worth of racial-tolerance he rigorously instilled in his son only to be wiped out in an ignorant instant by those less fortunately schooled whom he must now wish he could have afforded the same level of educational advantage - please leave the gentleman to grieve in peace with his own private choices, every parent must pray they never feel his pain.

Happy to leave him alone if he'll leave me alone, too; stop platforming his homilies at me.
