POOFGATE. THOSE LIBDEMS, WHAT ARE THEY LIKE?

I can honestly say that I had absolutely no intention, none whatsoever, of being found out,  and I did not, absolutely did not, need the money so I can pay it back and lets all draw lines in the sand  and move on to the real work  of tracking-down benefit cheats.

Always seemed a bit odd to me that we have to pay the red braces brigade tens of thousands a week or they will stop working but at te bottom of the heap thay are paid less than a tenner a day to force them in to any sort of work.

I love you, you pay my rent....

Tricky call for the 'progressives' over at the Guardian. Get an early big coalition scalp or keep quite lest the door be opened to a thousand gay scams....

And it's another depressing example of the only true opposition to this gang coming from the Filth-O-Graph; so enmired are they all that none may dare speak against the other.

Gay is neither here nor there, Laws is a nasty fuckpig, preaching national penury from behind a million plus bank balance, let us hope they get him, though the odds are long.

Mrs Dale is all over his paymasters at skymadeupnewsandfilth, wetting himself witth anxiety lest justice come early to the coalition, the nation's premier political blogger, tosser.

New politics, same as... With Lemsip Obit declaring that Laws is the best man for the job and should hence be immune from criticism, it's just like the Old Days. Getting on, doing the right thing.

Laws is either a mendacious little twerp ('I thought "partner" meant wife), or too stupid to breathe. And he looks like a bloody undertaker on a day out to the coast.

Too stupid to let live, Mr PTB. And he retired at 30 with more money than he could carry. What is wrong with the fuckers that they do this?

He will have to go but do I detect the evil hand of a vengeful Vince?

The strange thing is that, although I have always claimed that anyone going into politics is suffering from serious mental health problems, there are some people who still think that there must somewhere be an honest politician,
The mere fact that they all think they are that bit better/cleverer/smarter/etc. than other people gives the game away from the outset.

We must have a new system based on the jury system. Ordinary mortals plucked at random from society, with no option to refuse, sitting as a committee, with a civil service, in place of "special advisors", and with public referenda as a decision making process.

call me ishmael said...

No option to refuse, maximum terms, rollover and replacement of maybe twenty per cent of old members, say, every year, paid the average salary, bare necessity expenses, collegiate accommodation, small gratuity on completion of public service to assist resettlement, perhaps the award of a title, Distinguished National Service, or something, barred from obtaining post-retirement advantage. You've been reading my back pages, mr archimedes, or else the correct approach to public administration and policy is becoming more and more obvious, inescapable, really.

Any evidence, mr mongoose, or thoughts on how and why Rhodes Cable is involved, he is not loved by the Filth-O-Graph.

Unfuckingbelieveably stupid Laws may be but this does not mean that he is not also venal. In a way, it doesn't matter if he stays or goes. The infants and the opportunists, like Opek and Dale, praise-singing the Coalition will continue their chorus of Hosannahs but this, so early on, from one so prominent, will have punctured the jointly-mastered HMS Ruin below the waterline; it is the beginning of the end of the Coalition of the Unwholesome. This and the peerages. Oh, Happy Whitsun, not that we celebrate it, here, in New Presbyteria, best part of England.

Gracious of you not to just caption it "See, I told you, I said, didn't I!" which you did.

However as the day has gone on I've become less convinced that being gay is irrelevant.

The partner, James Lundie, nominated his junior Neil Spring for a year's work in Washington for organizing a contact network called Village Drinks "which attracts more than 400 gay professionals to its monthly events". (Brand Republic 2006). Lundie clearly thinks that Edelman benefits from aggregating influence built on sexuality, and as Lundie is closely associated with briefing for and on the LDs, he is presumably giving them advice based on exploiting this.

Laws can't be responsible for what his partner thinks but there's an inherent contradiction here. If sexual orientation isn't important, why is Lundie manipulating it?

Beside, Laws should surely have mentioned that he had a personal reason for wishing to see government legislation which removes a parent's right to withdraw a child from sex education classes which conflict with their beliefs.

An honest way to fight that corner would be to say "I'm gay and I don't think you should have the right to teach your child that my choices are invalid, so I'm going to vote to make lessons compulsory". Instead, he gave a response along the lines "of course parents know best so long as they are doing what the government tells them".

His wording, and it was only in March, also showed that he thinks of funding as 'state funding' rather than what it is - money paid by us.

As the day has gone on he is beginning to look more and more of a liability.

Can I refer you to something I put on the web just before New Labour took over?
It has had the odd edit since then, but only the odd paragraph here and there.

I'm of the opinion that he outed himself or rather his husband did....okay...bear with me - have been hanging around Lib Con all day so may be talking absolute bollox. But as Mrs WoaR points out - there's a bit more than this than meets the eye. His partner was quickly jettisoned in the 'you cunt' style - 'we lead separate lives, have different relationships' (I think he did say relationships in his statement) so did his rent bot (or, as it turns out - he's the rent boy) out him and get a nice fuck you in there too?

This man' seriously motherfuckingloaded but is his 'partner' a whore? We should be told!

It's certainly given his constituency caseworker a fucking headache.

I have no evidence, Mr Ishmael, but it is pretty clear that Cable is not happy. And if Laws is dead, Cable is the obvious man to step into the breach. However, Cable is a Labour Luvvie to his little red socks. Maybe the whole thing just went tits up. Tomorrow's papers should have a few clues.

These are the quite commercial songs but i've been wandering about and, well, as yet, this youtube thingy doesn't always give good advice. TBC perrrrhhaappss.

Gets more like a very bad murder mystery. There's his non-appearance on QT, then Ali Campbell with a grin so wide it practically meets up round the back, then a splash in the Telegraph just when the expenses story should have been dead.

Assemble everyone in the drawing room, Inspector.

Welcome and thanks, mr archimedes, I'll look at that when I have some time, it's a big post, huge, and much of its subject matter has been of interest to me for a long time.

I wasn't,incidentally, claiming prior ownership of your suggestion, just mentioning that me and my young friend, stanislav, had been promoting the consideration of such a system for some time.

call me ishmael said...

He did have the look, almost the pallor, of a doomed man, mrs woar. I thought that maybe the Filth-O-Graph was just pissed about the capital gains tax proposals particularly but about the Coalition of the Unwholesome and about CallHimDave, in particular and was firing a warning shot.

It has been my view that it won't make Christmas, this set-up, and if, as mr mongoose suggests, there is an embarrassing reshuffle so early in the game, the clamour for another election will grow and grow and grow, torpedoing DaveanNick's attempt at rigging a fixed term parliament and an invulnerable executive. Dave will, of course, say, look, I Told You, We Won't Put Up With It, Thieving but questions must remain about his judgement in making the apppointment in the first place.

Whichever, Hallelujah.

I had meant to say, I suppose, that his sexuality shouldn't matter. Your points about the relevance of Law's - and the LibDems' - attitude to public posturing and private sexuality deserve a longer and more considered response, in due course; as you know it is something we have alluded to more than once here and not always in a merely scatalogical, irreverent sort of way.

Waltzing, mr DTP, is for dreamers, thanks for your kind words.

Thank you for that. I was not suspecting that you were making any such claim. It is obvious to any right thinking person that the only way forwards is by some such scheme.
I should be quite happy for you to take as much information from it as you want and to promote the site should you feel it worthwhile.
