Brandy, Mrs I, or some such. And books.

Wishing you well.

Plenty of Vitamin D.

Best wishes.

Get well soon mrs I.
Lemsip every 4 hours, a decent measure of Scotch every hour in between, 4000 iu vit D every morning; although you should have been taking vit D over winter, it takes 2 weeks to get full benefit.
By the way, there has yet to be a test found for COVID 19, the LFT will only detect bits of any virus you may be carrying and if you hadn’t taken the test you wouldn’t have COVID 19.
Yes I am a covid denier, non of the shit we’ve been told this past 2 years makes any sense, just a moneymaking scam. Part of the Great Reset.

Thank you for the good wishes and advice, ishmaelites. Much appreciated. I'm on Day 8 of symptoms now and absobloodylutely exhausted. I've been supplementing with vitamin D for years and I'm triple vaccinated. The advice to keep warm is spot on, mr mongoose - the other day I felt a little cold and burst into tears. Deny it as you will, mr inmate, I haven't felt so ill for a very long time. And tired.
But I must be on the home straight now - onward and upwards.
Books have helped, mr. b.b. - a friend came round and left a bag of books on my doorstep, in an update of knock-door-run, and I've just finished (between micronaps)Lucy Mangan's Bookworm - a wonderful evocation of all the childhood books that I devoured to the exclusion of real life. I found myself all upset for Barbara Sleigh's Carbonel trilogy that didn't make Mangan's cut. And her childhood self had clearly not stumbled across Captain W.E. Johns - I couldn't take to Biggles, but Tiger Clinton's adventures (Kings of Space, Return to Mars etc)were my first introduction to science fiction, there in the Children's Section of the old Halifax Library, all polished dark wood, and shining shelf after shelf of amazing, wonderful books, there for me every Saturday morning. But I had to order Tom's Midnight Garden, when Mangan reminded me how much I had loved it and I immediately had an overwhelming need to re-read it.

Our first library was like that, mrs i. Although I cannot now recall where it was because when I was 5 or 6 they built a spanking new concrete one very nearby. A bicycle-ride with no main roads nearby. And so I was allowed to go there mum-less as long as I could persuade one of my older brothers to ride there too. They had a magic micro-fiche machine into which the haughty librarians peered dubiously. The younger ones ignored me - as well they might, snotty wee blighter that I was - but the older lady had transferred from the other library and let me have an extra book. I forget now the details but she wangled me a ten-year-old's card rather than a whatever I was, or some such manoeuvre. Innocent days. I discovered the Heinlein stuff in that library. He even wrote a short story about us - 'Coventry'.

Glad you are better. You probably haven't been eating much. A good feed is called for soon.

congratulations, mrs ishmael.

when is your due-date?

With you on Tom's Midnight Garden, Mrs I, it's piercing.

Libraries are The Holy Land.

Good to hear you are on the mend Mrs I. I recommend a good hot curry.

Not a Caption Contest, mr ultrapox, thank you.
Actually, today is Freedom Day and I can go to the Goblin Market and buy peaches, citrons and dates, grapes for the asking, pears red with basking out in the sun, plums on their twigs, pomegranates, figs, from the brisk fruit-merchant men.

mrs ishmael said...

See what you did there, mr bb.

mr mongoose:
"Libraries will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no libraries."
I have a wonderful poster by Wendy Edelson, illustrating that huge truth. I'll pop it onto the blog when I aveaminnit.

As for the not eating - I've lost 4 pounds over the last fortnight, but, unfortunately, I know from experience that they are merely mislaid, not lost, and will come running home to momma soon enough.

i am relieved to hear that you are on the road to recovery, mrs ishmael.

on another note, the cia-guardian eagerly reports that, in support of ukraine's national suicide, fink void has released its first new song in 28 years.

dave gilmour: just another neo-imperialist prick in the establishment-wall...

nick mason too, apparently.

Just old luvvies Mr ultrapox. By now they are probably pissing in their beds and drinking Sustagen through a straw in a vain attempt to cling on to another year.

yeah, those necrotic old numb-brained nato-rockers, eh, mr mike?

they'll do anything for a scrap of pro-nazi publicity...

but moving smartly on to the genocide-loving a-list of neocon-lite liberals - that's the ones who serve clinton obama biden & co with coffee off their trolley - i can reveal, in shock-news, that camp kommandant vilhelm schlapper ii has actually now been sanctioned by the academy of motion picture arts and sciences...

so d'you think maybe its members mistook him for the mad russian führer, then?

well, i blame sugar ray smith's hairline, myself.

apparently, icky joke-sleaze reckons the saving face producer got off with mere slapped wrists...

although, all-in-all, you know, it's just fortunate for the pursuit of slappyness star that comedy-victim criss cock isn't a white man - or woman...

because, in that inappropriate event, mr happy clapper would instantly have become an enemy of the slate.

of course, it's also a good job that crock's an ardent advocate of critical race theory - and was thus philosophically determined to take a lampin' like that on the chin.

i'm glad you appreciate the more nuanced aspects of the crock-situation, mr ultrapox: i only meant to throw some shade - but inexplicably ended-up lamping the facety little motherfucker

yes, i'm pretty sure that evil rastaputin hacked into my brain, you know
