Dear Mr Ishmael

Helloooooooo. Hope you're alright and having interweb stuff.

At both speeches Obama gave to both Miks and Plebs was 'good guys pay their debts'! He tried to moralise this banker problem into a political dynamic. Fair enough, but don't take the piss.

I like Obama and he is as dumb as he looks but that's where the buziness comes in. I like the reticence about liking Britain - if we did torture his old man then fair play to him. Am sure it wasn't personal but that doesn't make it better.

Just as an aside, his move from Ireland to London seemed like a market intervention rather than volcanic.

Big love to you & yours

DtP

Dear Mr Ishmael

I don't know if you came across the recent hubbub in the Libertarian party. It's interesting because a group of people who had appeared to be politically astute got together and put a few pounds in to a fledgling party.

Unfortunately there have been - ahem - questions raised about where the subs have gone.

I did a little scratching round and found that compared to businesses and charities, political parties are legal structures which have very little formal regulation. They are distinct bodies which don't come under normal company or trust law. They come under electoral law but that is highly specific. If you want to ask other questions like "where are the accounts?" then you have to fall back on ordinary criminal law such as theft and fraud and false accounting, all of which are very hard to establish.

In short, it may be covered by your immortal phrase: "Fuck Off It's Legal".

I advise anybody who is feeling a bit short to start a political party, but don't be greedy. Keep each membership to £15 and it is most unlikely that any one person will be sufficiently annoyed to call the police. You can probably do this for two years before someone asks awkward questions, but if you are very good at PR you may be able to splash some of the take on politicking and make it look like much more, keeping the balance for those all-important expenses.

Hello Mr DtP, Mrs Raft and, it is to be hoped, Mr Ishmael. Good health and the best of summer to all.

Mr I often goes missing for a fortnight or more. He'll be back. Or he's got bored and chucked it in.

Has anyone seen that Serbian general and Mr Ish in the same room twice?

Or Una Stubbs and Ish together? The plot thickens......

Until we hear further I shall be coming here every day in hope, making the Sign of Ruin and then going away again, sorrowing.

Mr. DtP says: "Quite worried".
I suspect everything is just fine. Fish are jumping, etc. He'll be back. I have been QW myself, only to be revealed as an old worrier when he came roaring back on fighting form.

You alive fella? Jock Bill's a bit fruity. It's easier talking about Jockland than it is about Europe but it's the same conversation. I'm genuinely undecided.

Anyone heard any news on Mr Ishmael?

Looking forward to when you take up arms again, Mr Ishmael. For there are motherfuckers all around and they grow more numerous by the day.

"But then, as we Zen-Presbyterian-Marxists know, we should all go and set a watchman in the Tower, for shit does happen, it just happens, without warning, introduction or apology, that's why we call it shit happening."

That from a couple of months back, the piece about Buster. Hope not, Mr Ish, hope not...
