I was travelling for a couple of days, reading the papers and Private Eye in the car and listenting to the odd news broadcast. One of the Radio Four SixAClock News shows had some ghastly hussie announcing: Former leader of the Liberal Democrats, Lord Steel, has made clear that he didn't know about the (beasting) activities of the late Sir Cyril Smith .
Not claimed, insisted, vowed, asserted, complained, repeated or said. No, made clear.
Not to me, he hasn't, bitch.
Boy David has always looked like a closet something-ot-other, over-shirted, over-coiffed, a bit too dandyish, even for the 'seventies and his whingeing, irritated riposte to the Smith cover-up allegations - "I was not running a detective agency" - rang more than a little hollow. What he was really saying was, Look, I'm on the inside of the beasting tent, beasting out. You can't touch me. So just fuck off. In this, at least, he's right.
A Guardian hack when a young MP, a teevee pundit at the same time, David Steel is a strand in MediaMinster's bloodline. And we can't touch him for his most unLiberal ushering-in however many years of Thatcherism it was; we can't touch him for the Dave-stewarded gargantuan fuck up which was the Scottish parliament building project - a cost overrun of nine hundred per cent - and we certainly can't touch him for his monstrous views on the beasting of children. We might usefully remember, though, that if you scratch a liberal - be he nonce, shit-eater, queer-basher, benefits cheat or unrepentant convict - you'll find a fascist.

Not content with the rape of young lads, he and his mob are responsible for the mechanised murder of around 200,000 unborn British children a year.
I once heard him say that legalising abortion was the high point of his career, his greatest achievement.
What kind of deranged psycho gloats at the killing of babies as some kind of crowning glory?
I hope someone gives him up. Clifford, perhaps?
Vincent
Careful, mr vincent, how you go; that anti-abortion schtick gets up all the wrong noses, it's like gay marriage and Scottish independence, if you are not a hundred per cent pro you are the enemy.
I looked at all that Steel Abortion Act business in The Sunday Essay, The Scum Also Rises. I believe it was just opportunism on his part, he is incapable of holding an ethical position. I worked out how many abortions there had been since the Act - I forget, now - but I felt it was a contributor to Ruin, slaughter for the sake of convenience. I don't know that it should be forbidden and I guess that taking everything into consideration it must finally be the mother's choice; maybe if we spoke of mothers' choice, instead of the Woman's Choice there might be a different approach to contraception and termination; it is a hard one, on which I vacillate. I agree, however, that Steel's posturing, grandstanding and self-aggrandisement on such a delicate subject is deplorable. But I am sure he is guilty of much worse.
RE being the enemy, Mr Ishmael, I have noticed for many years now that, mostly, the things I like, the things I consider good and pure and lovely, right, moral and desirable, most others don't.
Could be for the simple reason that I am just an ass, I suppose, but I remain unconvinced of this :-)
Vincent.
Refuted, that's the word I find most annoying. You aren't refuting anything, you are just denying it, I yell, uselessly, at the radio and the telly.
"I was not running a detective agency" - rang more than a little hollow.
My mum came up with something similar many years ago. I can't recall the exact detail but her justification for not telling me something that she really should have volunteered in the circumstances rather than letting me make a cunt of myself was 'You didn't ask'.
It's at that point that you realise that you have become the adult and they are now the child.
Same with that cunt Steel. Whadya mean 'you're not running a detective agency'?
Do you think that's a fucking clever answer?
It's the kind of glib shit that Bart Simpson would come up with.
Steel is a lying bastard: Westminster, or should I say Beastminster is the same as any other workplace; every fucker knows who is on the fiddle, in every sense of the word. Although they don`t do any work at Beastminster so they have even more time to backstab.
It wouldn`t surprise me if Steel was the party twink in the 70`s, Buggerman and Thorpe using him then laughing in his face. And Steel did admit he did know re Buggerman; he didn`t do anything about it either through cowardice or compromisation.
"I don't know that it should be forbidden and I guess that taking everything into consideration it must finally be the mother's choice; maybe if we spoke of mothers' choice, instead of the Woman's Choice there might be a different approach to contraception and termination;"
I remember someone saying that every woman should have the right to abortion but there should be a 12 month cooling off period prior to having it just to make certain that it was not just whim and fancy.
I wouldn't go that far, mr alphons; there are cases, of course, in which termination is not exactly desirable but is the lesser of two regrettable outcomes. It's just that when, as now, it is little more than a consumer lifestyle choice, we risk far more than the massacre of innocence (sic.)
The primacy of the individual - Steel's Liberal philosophy - is both repugnant and end environmentally catastrophic. As we see. Liberals value nothing.
Abortion is classed as a crime mainly, I think, because it prevents those in charge of gaining another "worker bee" and hence lowers their tithe expectation.
"Proper crime" is another matter. Mr ishmeal .

Your link only brought me back here, mr alphons.
Abortion isn't a crime but when it was, why was it? I think it is just an overhang from the Abrahamic religions, the Jews, the Micks and the Anglicans. Although we must remember that God said to Abraham, kill me your son....relenting, albeit, upon proof of Abe's willingness so to do. It will be tied up with societal, quasi religious resistance to contraception. I honestly don't know why such criminal organisations as Religions Incorporated shrink from killing foetuses. For me though it is the same instinctive imperative as that which makes me loathe Debbie Purdy, Terry Pratchett and all the other right-to-diers. I think that killing people is wrong, even tiny people, especially tiny people. to give filth like Cameron, Clegg and Miliband power over Life at its beginning and at its end leaves them just a shot away from taking it in the middle, as they would.
call me ishmael said...
"Your link only brought me back here, mr alphons."
Am I to understand that the contents of the link brought had no effect on your opinion, or did the link not work?
What I should have typed was:-
"Am I to understand that the contents of the link had no effect on your opinion, or did the link not work?"
Just put it down to senility
The link led straight back to itself, mr alphons.
I used copy and paste, Mr. Ishmael, and it worked.
What a funny world we live in.
That's what I I did, too, maybe it's my ipad. I am sure it works, like most such things, for the CIA.
