THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Mortars from the Kremlin, RPGs from Uncle Sam;
Dollars from the Saudis, fighters from Iran;
Black Ops, disinformation, just another Arab day
And Sarin gas in rockets from the CIA.

hey cool lyrics man...yeah, i think we're both singing from the same hymn-sheet...

...and by a miraculous stroke of coincidence i sure do believe that your own catchy contemporary verse would fit* the very melody i have in mind for the following original composition which i have written for schoolchildren to perform at morning assembly in honour of our revered president whose divine intervention to bring us world war iii we are all so eager to celebrate and praise god for...

1. all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

2. each little flow’r that opens,
each little bird that sings,
god made their glowing colours,
he made their tiny wings.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

3. the purple-headed mountains,
the river running by,
the sunset and the morning
that brightens up the sky.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

4. the cold wind in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden,
god made them every one.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

5. the tall trees in the greenwood,
the meadows where we play,
the rushes by the water,
to gather every day.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

6. god gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how that great cunt obama
has fucked it all to hell.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

as you may have noted, the language, symbolism and construction of this modern anthem is simple enough for the younger mind to grasp - as, i feel, is the ideological content, which clearly contrasts the distinctly distinguished roles of god and our commander-in-chief in the context of the current day...

...and i therefore reckon that the verse which you have personally taken the trouble to contribute, mr ishmael painwrite iii, might more appropriately be included, subject to formal submission and artistic evaluation, in an acid or psychedelic jazz interpretation of the oeuvre.

*(like an iron-glove)

the reverberant jizzy jacksome said...

whoops...looks like i slipped one refrain too many in there me old motherfucker...

...and i'd also like to stress that the 'content' to which i made reference in the penultimate paragraph is probably more of a 'theological' nature than 'ideological'.

hi again buddies - here's the adult impro i promised earlier...

...although on second thoughts, i suppose the kids had better sing it because when this world-war-three thingy breaks they're all gonna grow up in a flash...

straight from the cia.

4. each bullet wound that opens,
each death the new day brings,
obama made drones strike us
and put rockets on their wings.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

5. the purple-headed corpses,
the blood-stream running by,
the missiles in the morning
that brighten up the sky.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

6. the cold words in his rhetoric,
the democratic gun,
uranium shells depleted
help him kill every one.

all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
obama bombed them all.

7. the land-mines in the meadows,
the bomb-sites where we play,
the cluster-bombs lie waiting
to gather every day.

obama bombed them all.

must beat it now, my children...

...got to help that rocker fella, mcchartnot, compose the words for the new lib-aid single - which we're recording to aid the liberation of bradley manning...

...that's if he wants to come out after world-war-three busts off, of course...

(oh god, hope that collaborating to aid sergeant manning's not a court-martiable offence thesadays...?)

AH! That makes sense now.

@rumply

yeah well...err...obviously verses two and three have to be rapped 'n wrought into rhythm man...

...but i'm sure that after doing some work on the feet our hip-hop artiste miss dynometer can get her tongue 'round the repeating primus paeon and bring it off nicely...

ps: hope you noticed the subliminal device in the third line of the sixth verse where i used decayed syntax to reflect the instability latent within the imagery - i was rather proud of that.

Dear mr jacksome.

It is good of you to share your musings with us, pointless alliteration is a fascinating, what shall we call it, hobby? and you are obviously a skilled exponent of this priceless literary device. The trouble is that it seems as though you are talking to yourself.

These, though are dark times and your prolific contributions, I am sorry to say, offer them little illumination. May I ask you, therefore, to refrain from bombarding us with them, maybe just keep them in the ward, share them with the other patients. Thanks.

Dollars from the Saudis? One contributor to [I think it was] Guido's blog a few days ago had it that a certain very senior Saudi Princey thingy was behind this infamy. All to do with the possible routes of pipe/gas lines which if built across Syria from certain Gulf states will serve to cut out the Russian monopoly on gas supply to Europe.

Lots of corporate shenanigans and wheels within wheels here - and no really obvious reason why Assad should use such weapons, especially given the fact that he seems to be gaining the upper hand anyway at present. Curiouser and curiouser (with lots of funny Telavivianstyle cash involved too, allegedly).

call me ishmael said...

Yes, it does seem to be the gas. But it might also be a pretence to attack Iran and relieve Nuclear Israel's concerns, at least for a few minutes, they'll swiftly dream up another grievance.

sir ginstone lurchswill said...

oh yes, compulsive alliteration is almost as annoying as those some of rapper chappies who insist on making every other word-tail rhyme religiously in monotone - endlessly employing the suffix '-tion' or the like. perhaps the right rev is part of a radical reactionary movement against this rude practice...?

...but despite his previous willingness to criticize the incumbent commander-in-chief, he certainly isn't exactly slapping his president down over the proposed war against syria 'tho, is he? what has induced this militant change of heart in the former disciple of anti-vietnam-war martyr, martin luther king...?

...are you sure it's not that arse cameron masquerading as a pro-war preacher?

bumble-bumble-bumble...

ah, i feel a speech coming on...

never...

err wait a minute err...mmm yes, that's right...

never...in the field of human stupidity...have so few nobheads...been owed such a bloody great dobbing...by so many...

world-war-three? oh damn blast and bugger...i can't go through all that again...even an unrecalcitrant old war-crim like me...

these fellows would be laughing-stock, save for the fact it's no joke...

don't the prime minister and the other clueless blithering chumps and cheap seat-polishers in cabinet realize that they, along with obama, kerry and hollande, are probably the only sodding people on the whole flaming fucked-up globe sufficiently gullible to actually believe the bullshit cia intelligence reports on ghouta?

cunts the lot of 'em.

hmmm...resignations...i've had a few...

@sir ginstone lurchswill

mark my joke-sheet of a ballot-paper...

...if the united states congress approves military intervention in syria with only 9 per-cent of the american public backing the proposal...

...us democracy will be a laughing-stock and ridiculed worldwide...

...to make such a dumb decision would be akin to decorating with a red clown's nose the top of a cake of ideologically-iced buffalo-dung which has already been utterly undermined and devalued as a socially-acceptable political philosophy by its imposition upon others using inhuman immoral and culturally-destructive force.

how many more decent god-fearing law-abiding families must be slaughtered and sacrificed by insatiable presidential pride upon the altar of indecent democracy?

call me ishmael said...

It is as you say. My money is, unusually, on the American people to kick the politicians' arses.

I watched the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, led - de facto - by Codger McCain and it made my blood run cold. But maybe it made America's blood run cold, too.

Sticking my neck out, I don't believe Obama will act without Congressional approval. He's fucked either way, now, but he can still deploy the Cameron Defence - I listened - and hope to help Al Quaeda out at a later date

clockwork cunt said...

i hope you're correct, mr ishmael...but i don't have your confidence that our congreasedmen will not be bought-off by the big-boys with big-bucks.

"the president can’t be guilty until proven guilty in this...we have to back him up", quoth the reverend of revenge, seemingly unconcerned that his megalomaniac mass-murdering master of carnage will unerringly chalk-up the illegal kills of thousands of complete innocents and that those deemed guilty have not been proven guilty by any stretch of any sane person's imagination...

...but hey, apparently that's cool because those syrian guys are inferior humans belonging to an unamerican race which doesn't deserve the infinite undying grace of democratic justice...

...and besides, things over here in the united unconscious state of airheaded arrogance have changed and, irrespective of colour or creed, we're all white supremacists now, you know...

...and the only thing that matters is to make sure the president, regardless of guilt, doesn't turn red.

as for john "i was only following orders" kerry, the anti-vietnam-war-criminal, who claims that atrocities are not really atrocities if someone else commands you to carry them out, and also reckons that imperialism is a bad thing and the money you can make out of it's not bad either...

...yes, that soldier of fortune...

...i caught him croaking away on the telly yesterday, shortly after a meeting with club-mates from the league of rich bastards which was scheduled to be about peace but for light relief they thought they might as well change the agenda to all-out war...

...and to listen to him, he gave the impression of one of those robotic toy action-figures whose batteries were running out...

crockwork cunt said...

oh dear, that penultimate paragraph didn't read right, did it...?

try this:

@clockwork cunt

john kerry argued against imperialism whilst at college, not because it was wrong or anything, but because it had a marketing problem in africa and asia (can't for the life of me think why?)...

...then he joined-up and fought the imperialist war in vietnam...

...afterwards, he felt a bit guilty about the genocide and all that so he became an anti-vietnam-war campaigner...

...next after initially opposing the use of military force in the gulf war, kerry got full-square behind president bush on the iraq war, because he reckoned saddam hussein wanted to build nukes...

...later, when no weapons of mass destruction were found in iraq, john kerry said he wasn't so keen about the whole affair and complained about being lied to by bush...

...now he's well-up-for a crack at syria, it appears...

is this man a little confused, or has the original peace-campaigner been replaced by a double?

personally, i think that a trap is being set for the western allies queuing up to take a pop at president assad, and that if they attack syria, they may find that al qaeda have slyly drawn them in, using any western intervention as a pretext for suddenly switching sides and then striking mainland europe and america.
