I'm sorry for everyone involved, mr ultrapox - the life ended and the lives ruined, including that of the perpetrator. Usually the perpetrator does not survive and so the motivation is lost or mangled.
The papers have been full of grim-faced politicians - I've been aware, even during my hard driving through Scotland. Is it the usual hypocritic camera opportunity, in which the deceased (whoever he or she is and whatever the means of the violent or tragic death) is a perfect human being, bright A level student, hard-working constituency politician? Or are they scenting a troubling sea change on the wind, as you hypothesise?
Interesting thought of yours - that the snob-infested labour party has declared war on the British working class. It has always been the tactic of choice of those in power - divide and rule. So the more factions there are - anti-trsnsphobia, anti-feminism, anti-racism, anti-disablism, anti-homosexuality, to drive apart those who should be united by a common class interest, the better it is for the ruling class.
I'm a trade unionist and our driver is strength through collectivism - but the trade union movement is as factionalised as the Labour Party and in no shape to organise working people in opposition to those who would trample on their interests.

nevertheless, i can personally attest to the 'progressive' left's repressed hatred of the working-classes, women, the disabled, ethnic minorities, and the entire third world...
and in fact, if there are those that don't believe me, they need only chuck a glance at the sleazy goings-on in socially-cleansed hackney in order to comprehend how the neo-liberally engorged gangster-class has taken over the town-hall in that corporately corrupt and coke-clogged borough - where municipality is now shamelessly sold to the highest bidder.
