And there we are. A man singing in a taxi producing better noise than Callow and his ilk will ever not dream about.

Once, long ago, in Coventry on a Christmas Eve, I watched a Rod Stewart concert on the telly before wandering over to midnight mass in St Mary Magdalene's and I thought just the same thing, all around me were blokes singing better than that posturing egomaniac. It may be a consequence of that experience that I have never seen a Callow programme.

Love that RIchard Thompson, even singing Oops I Did It Again.

I think he just likes the chords, mrs n. I found a concert he did with his recent band on Scottish TV which kept me up all night, leaning on the windowsill; pure rock'n'roll, of an Anglican variety. Wish more people appreciated him.

It's a fifteenth century hymn, mr mongoose, about how we must, all of us, frame, in advance, our own Cloze-ya.
