CLAUSE FOUR REVISITED.

Mr Thomas B Hall commented on the last post that he was content to support a tiny, electorally insignificant and hopeless but uncompromising political party. Dave Nellist was the last MediaMinster politician for whom I had any respect and on the couple of occasions on which we spoke he struck me as gracious and sincere. Too gracious for the cunt, Kinnock, who, enraged by Nellist's only taking from his MP's salary the same wage as a skilled worker in his Coventry constituency, had him deselected.

I post this broadcast not to proselytise but just in case others missed it, which would not be surprising, although I will say that I wish Dave and his comrades well, they should be neither insignificant nor hopeless.

Tearful Tommy Sheridan destroyed the left in  Scotland, snorting it away with cocaine bought from  party members' subscriptions, and Gorgeous George Galloway has pimped it away in England; maybe, in providing a collectivist's counterpoint to Poundland's lurid, discordant singularity Dave Nellist may yet, though cowards flinch and traitors sneer, rattle the cages of the unGodly.

I was just about to add something to your last post Mr I but you've beaten me to it - you are definitely doing your bit for Ruritanian productivity - be careful Her Maj might invite you up for for one of them awards for industry... In the meantime my paltry observations prepared earlier:

Fuck, I really have been bottom trawling this evening Mr I - yes Friday nights have been reduced to this.  First up, Jocky Neil's Politics show regurgitated from lunchtime. However, it was interesting to see the Tories' Priti (indeed Pretty) Patel  juxtaposed against Lady Toynbee of Grauniad. The former a bright, cool (in the old sense of the word), articulate, well briefed & on top of her brief Ugandan Asian Essex Girl (with sense of humour too). The latter, a vile, condescending, aristocratic, I know best, champagne Trotskyite hack. Toynbee never really attempted to challenge "Pretty" - I imagine she must have blown what is left of Toynbee's  politically correct brain (oddly Toynbee reminds me of Camilla Parker Bowles - maybe not so oddly...). I would have liked to have seen Pretty take on the 'Sistas' last night (even if she has done some bad business with the booze and fag merchants - though I doubt she touches any of it herself...). From what I have seen of her she would have wiped the floor with them + had Farage wanking like a chimp.  I also doubt she would have joined the sistas for the hug at the end either. If the Tories are smart they'd bypass Bozza, Gideon and May and look there for their new leader in the likely calamity that is to come. Next up - Any fucking Questions on SNPBC Radio 4, as it must now surely be called. Another in the series of "I agree with Abu Hamza" shows that they seem to be running just now. When is somebody going to put Dimbleby out of our misery? I am unable to report further as it became necessary to turn off the radio to conserve what little remains of my sanity. Mr SG slumps back into sofa with medicinal glass of vin rouge...

I saw only the last couple of minutes of Ms Patel and found her, on that brief acquaintanceship, as being likely to have originated in the same android manufactury as Ed Milidroid and way too congenitally conceited to be pretty. All this, of course, does not make me differ from your assessment of Toynbee, the Guardian and all who write for it, as bad in its way as the Filth-O-Graph, even worse, inasmuch as the Filth-O-Graph makes no bones, these days, about being a shitsheet.

I should think that my dogbloke, Harris, would present a more cohesive and attractive case than did the weird sisters, last night.

I can only assume, contrary to popular belief, hereabouts, that red wine doesn't actually refine the judgement, you see, because I thought she was horrid, Ms Patel. In the red eye of the beholder, beauty.

SG said...

My judgements are entirley unrefined & unreconstructed, especially when tinged with vin rouge, Mr I. One clutches at straws in this environment... We shall see about Ms Patel - whether she be beauty or beast...

Mulhearn is in my constituency but is tainted by the mafia idiocy of the Hatton terror which had fuck all to do with socialism - my word, Derek was and is a repulsive cunt.

You cited Nellist a while ago when I asked for a socialist beacon and I agree he is one of the least worst. I will vote for Mr M, while slightly holding my nose, because TUSC policies are obviously the merest common sense and basic good manners.

I always think that's what socialism is, or should be, really : good manners in action.

call me ishmael said...

Sheridan was Hatton in tartan, his homeboys Stalimist
filth, but adroit at milking grievance; his thunder is now stolen by Grievance Gnasher.

Talking of manners, I recommend Manners From Heaven, by Quentin Crisp, if you haven't read it. Probably at tax-free Amazon.

call me ishmael said...

Indeed, mr sg, how can a poor man stand, in days like these?

mongoose said...

1980's Nellist was a dick, Mr I, but youngish men are allowed to be daft. One could not though fault his honour, and especially that of his salary stance. Coventry was dying in those days. There was no point just shouting that this is wrong and that that alternative is even more so. What do you have to offer, Mr Spart, apart from your anger? "If we all go out on the street and shout at least we will be poor together." Well, Dave contributed fuck all in the end to prevent that. He'll know best in his grave, I expect.

He does though seem a much improved, if chastened, man - shouting into the wind still. Has he not noticed that the age of trades, of organised labour, of collective power, is over. Specialisation is the name of the 21st Century game. But good luck to him.

call me ishmael said...

Yes,good luck to him, historically he was more of a man than the vile Geoffrey Robinson or the mad Audrey Wise and I would much rather hear his voice than those of the robbing conquerors, urging hard working people to do the right thing, cheeky fucking cunts. And anyway, it can't all be engineered, much less engineered retrospectively and shouting in the wind, as you call it, has its place, serves its purpose. I do it, here, all the time, by your leave and with your help, mr mongoose.

Bungalow Bill said...

Thanks for the recommendation Mr I, I'll look it up.

As for the non-existent hopes of the Nellist-Mulhearn ticket, well so be it. What though the field be lost?

British homosexuality's last hero, Crisp; warm, funny, inclusive, courageous, erudite and camp. I wonder what he'd think of gay marriage, of gays demanding the right to be straight. His gambit was that good manners welcomed people in, etiquette shut them out and he continues in that rebellion through the book, anecdotal, really, not scholarship. I am sure you'd appreciate it but that in itself is a dreadful presumption, a sort of Oh, darling, you simply must-ism, an etiquette of its own, sorry.

call me ishmael said...

.......opening gambit, it's like the reason why or a myriad of, innit? It's wot the NewPeople speak like, y'know, in parliament, and on the BBC.

mongoose said...

God help us. Wise and Robinson! What a particularly Godforsaken bastard he was, and she was not much better.

mongoose said...

And there was another one even worse. Name forgotten. But it will come back to me.

call me ishmael said...

Maurice Edelman's the only one springs to mind. I think Geoff Robinson must be, has to be Piers Moron's father, smirking oily bastards, both.

call me ishmael said...

Yes, mr alphons, derisory conduct, pathetic in adults, a pox on them all. The only feasible form of honest representation is on the basis of the jury system, whereby legislation is a duty, not a gravy train career, one where people like Jack Straw would go straight to jail and forfeit his estates and domaignes.

Nellist was the last bloke in Parliament I had any respect for. I remember him from the sponsored slanging match programme, Central Weekend?

Completely disagreed with him on most things, but I could believe that he believed what he did because he thought it was right, and not because he thought it would make me vote for him.

Lived in his council house, probably still does, and the door was always open. No security, probably not needed anyway because he wasn't such a twat that people would want to hurt him, unlike the modern scum.

I get more Alf Garnett as I get older, and was disappointed that socialism's last stand appears to be represented by every race under the sun apart from white English, with the odd exception. Racist I know, but I don't care anymore. Just think it would be nice to see someone the same as me as a representative, instead of some Ranjit or Sambo come lately.

SCOTLAND REVISITED
I am now more than sick of the sight and sound of Sturgeon (I realise that this is precisely the effect that she is tryng to create by coming down here and lecturing us). Why has she been given a platform in this election when she is not even standing as a UK parliamentary candidate? When the referendum took place I sincerely wanted Scotland to stay in the UK. However, I now wish that they had voted to leave (again just how Sturgeon et al want us to for feel - it's working...). But where would the Nationalists be now if they had succeeded? Not riding high in the opinion polls I wager. Instead, in the wake of a tanking oil price and gloomy prognoses by every international economic institution under the sun, their support would be draining away as it dawned on their erstwhile supporters that they had been duped.

Once 'independent', the value of the Groat or whatever currency they created, for it would not be the Euro (I can't see the EU admitting a Northern Greece to the fold with an imminent requirement for a massive bailout), would quickly become worthless. With their economy facing imminent collapse, I would have greatly relished the sight of Sturgeon and Salmond kneeling before Prime Minister Osborne (as he would surely be in this scenario). Ideally  the latter wigged and powdered in the manner of a Hanoverian monarch, the former chained and bagged in the manner of tribal captives. I am sure that Osborne would allow a faint smile to crease his pale features (IMF style) as he accepted their unconditional surrender. The 'ceremony' could be performed aboard one of the new aircraft carriers in the Firth of Clyde (Japanese surrender style) with parties of redcoats despatched to raise the Union flag above all key public buildings once more, perhaps accompanied by Orange pipebands specially imported from Ulster to celebrate their re-admittance to the Union...

It is a pity you have never lived under a dictatorship of the proletariat. You would then see it differs from any other kind only in added self-delusion. The biology underneath us all is at war, the surface that is us can never be different.

SG said...

We may be about to experience one of sorts Mr tdg - perhaps something more akin to a dictatorship of the 'lumpenproletariat'* if the SNP holds the balance of power on 8 May.

* In the Marxist lexicon this is "the class of outcast, degenerated and submerged elements that make up a section of the population of industrial centers... [it includes] beggars, prostitutes, gangsters, racketeers, swindlers, petty criminals, tramps, chronic unemployed or unemployables, persons who have been cast out by industry and all sorts of declassed, degraded or degenerated elements". I shall defer to Mr I for an opinion as to whether this description correlates to any extent with the socio-demographic profile of much of the SNP's Central Belt support.

Maybe distance lends a romantic soft-focus but the recently retired President of Uruguy, Jose Mujica, may be a plausible candidate for the kind of man in question here. Wikipedia does the usual helpful thumbnail portrait.

verge.//

SG said...

Thanks for posting that Mr Verge. I had not come across this man before. If his Wiki portrait is a fair approximation then clearly he is a man of exceptional integrity and extraordinary experiences (leaving aside his 'good' personal relations with that fascist bitch Kirchener - though hopefully that is just a function of his pragmatism & wouldn't seem to square with his values). Perhaps somewhat appropriately, he looks a bit like Mr Scott in his later incarnations in the Star Trek movies by the way...

call me ishmael said...

Never stood in a shield wall, either, mr tdg, never drew a longbow, fired a Bren gun; should I, therefore, deny myself an opinion on warfare ? In any event I was not promoting a Nellist Revolution, just noting that there are other approaches, other choices; the Stalinocracy is your prediction, I don't believe that national ownership of national resources automatically leads to tyranny, although it may.

The biology beneath us...........this is our recurring disagreement, over these years, me asserting that we may not be perfectable but we are improvable, you insisting that our hostilities are naturally hard-wired. I guess both positions share a nobility of sorts, Spartan or Suffragette.

call me ishmael said...

The question arises, in Scotland, on the lips of the silent, mr sg, of Who's running the fucking country, while the Executive is busy, since September, trying to overturn the result of the referendum? If the press was to cover it the term State of Emergency might appear in the conversation, certainly all Scots media uncritically reports the bitter wee words of Gnasher as though she were the voice of the Second Coming, the story being more important than the reality. You should not make the same mistake, the majority of those entitled to vote do not want separation. And to those we must add, obviously, those who did not vote - we must assume them happy with the status quo, making the Nos more like seventy per cent than fifty-five.

Just as there are perfectly respectable Poundlanders, there are decent Tribesmen, they've just gone very quiet.

SG said...

Deep down I hope you are right about that Mr I. My frustration is that nobody seems able to lay so much as a glove on the SNP in this fight. The Tories aren't even in the ring having knocked themselves out way back when in earlier fights. The Dogshooters are lying on the canvas out for the count with time running out. Labour are reeling on the ropes gouged and bloody and look like they are about to topple backwards out of it altogether. Meanwhile Sturgeon is strutting around the ring arms raised to the cheers of the crowd (even elements of the English crowd, for fuck's sake, judging from the other day). The battle for Scotland's Westminster seats already looks lost to me - the outcome a foregone conclusion. What matters now, in this war (if we can call it that), is what happens after the election when the Tartan Army marches south.

yardarm said...

I`d been wondering that about the Tribesmen, Mr Ishmael. They`ve got six reps at Beastminster at the moment, now they`re blowing farts about getting above fifty odd ? That`s a pretty steep increase.

So many people who voted in the referendum against independence would be voting for the SNP. Seems a bit funny, the ref. only a few months ago and the arse having dropped out of the price of oil, leaving MacMugabe`s economic ' policy ' even more of a mess than before.

(Oh, fuck me, even as I write Gnasher`s on the box now) I can only conclude that JockLabour and JockToileteers are so fucking useless that people are indulging in a bit of Gnasherism as a protest vote. I`m guessing. It`s bad enough down here with Osborne`s gleaming pansy face and his fucking gleaming hi vis jacket but you`re up there Mr Ishmael, dealing with the Holyrood level of the filthster class.

It won`t deter the Tribesmen from licking their chops at the thought of a Gnasherendum. They`ll be down there , all fifty of them, desperately keen to get into a Westminster they`d been denouncing a few months before, posing in their skirts on St Stephens Green.

But Gnasher`ll be in Holyrood while MacMugabe and the boys `ll be doing the stitch ups in Westnonster and they`re confusing votes with support: a lesson little Clegg will have brought home to him very shortly.

And give it two elections, neither Ham Face nor Banana Brother forming a junta then a GNU becomes almost inevitable.

Mike said...

The bottom line is that nobody gives a flying fuck about Scotland. Gnasher may well hold the balance of power in the next Govt, and will be given a few tokens for her wisdom and support, but come the next election she will be forgotten. In the scheme of things, it never happened.

call me ishmael said...

I lean towards a different view, mr mike - firstly, the Union is an article of faith for the Conservative and Unionist Party and has been adopted as such by Labour and the Dogshooters; secondly, many of the NOTAs are cheered, foolishly, by Gnasher, if not by the FatMan; thirdly, the referendum and the conjecture about a future MediaMinster have fired an interest, in the South, about the best part of England, it is thrilling political drama for some, massive irritation for others and those are not the same as not giving a fuck. I would venture that never in the field of human conflict have so many been so interested in Scotland.

I do not resile - listen to me, like a filthster, not resiling - I mean I don't disagree with you about Gnasher's flash-in-the-pan stature, she is more one-dimensional even than Cameron and in England she would still be stuffing envelopes, PR in Scotland gave her her opportunity, she only won a seat proper four years ago. It may be, as you say, that she -or more accurately her SugarDaddy, the Fatman- may flourish a little in MediaMinster but I still feel that many - in NewLabour, anyway - would prefer a coalition with the Tories than with the Tribesmen and that many NewTories and indeed some of the redneck backwoodsmen would similarly prefer a deal with Miliband to a deal with Smokey Sid, there is nothing, after all, to distinguish one party from the other; a penny here, a soundbite there.

call me ishmael said...

I voted SNP myself, mr yardarm, some years ago, in order to rid us of Labour's first minister, Scurvy Jack McConnell. the fucking jumped-up, dunderhead buffoon and his grasping Mrs and I am sure that many did the same and now, like me, would vote Poundland, would vote for hanging rather than vote SNP. I have found that there is a more refined political consciousness in Scotland than in England, even the infantile raucousness of the Tribesmen demonstrating that. Spud's deputy was just on the telly, every bit as feisty as Gnasher and a little more underdog beguiling - and a good deal more pragmatic. I don't know many people but they all hate the sound of Sturgeon's voice and the sight of her wee arsehole mouth, gnashing away. And it can't just be me who has noticed the central plank of Referendum economics sinking to the bottom of the North Sea, who has noticed NHS Scotland imploding and most of all the catastrophic collapse of public services and jobs as a result of the Tribesmen's permanent freeze of council tax, expecting English taxpayers to make up the shrinkage caused by their own crass vote-buying.

Responding to your earlier comment Mr Ishmael, I do see the appeal of a place like Orkney, I just am fearful I would change my mind and find it impossible to return!
Never heard of Dave Nellist before- but he sounds like a principled chap, and I approve of that at least. Consistent principles permit a change of view- whereas hidden political considerations demand illogical hypocrisy in the defence of policy.
Where I differ from most socialists is what I consider private, and what I consider is fair game for public ownership. Basically, if the value derives from input labour (factories, plant, art, houses, cars, clothes etc.)- I believe it should be private, but if the value derives from a gift of nature, it should be public (land, mineral rights, radio spectrum, air etc.). I see a world in which we tax private wealth, and allow what should be public wealth to be funnelled into a small group of workshy landowners. Anyway- Young People's Party for me!

call me ishmael said...

I have been taken a bit aback, mr sg, by current affairs, for reasons to which we will come and have tried to tune-out, turn-off and drop-out, watching ony the snooker, with the sound turned down, and the very surprising, Young dancer of the Year series. I recently bought one of those mongoose-endorsed Apple dongles,a big soundbox exdcahnged the telly for a larger one from another room. I quite fancied hat I could be like mr mike, Down Under, and watch Big TeeVee on one screen and BigBlog on another, but one look at Apple TeeVee - a screen full of shit, was enough. I suppose the only events to which I have paid any attention were the interventions of Sir John Currie-Stained Underpants and Field Marshal Lord Pantsdown-Lunatic, of which more later.

I did see a few minutes of the Plant-a-genet show and it looked very worthwhile.

call me ishmael said...

I don't know, Mr ThomasBHall, how far I agree with you, up to a point, I suppose but I think that logically, rather than emotionally, there is no such thing as private property, no such thing, in fact, as privacy, only secrets. And I have great difficulty in accepting the idea of wealth creators and their especialness - if there is no infrastructure and no health and education service then there is neither workforce nor customer through which the likes of Branson and Sugar can display their gifts. And anyway, isn't a nurse or an occupational thereapist, helping someone back to productive, independent life, doing that day-in and day-out, isn't that creating far more wealth than ever was made by that cunt barrowboy Sugar and his big vulgar gob?

A big subject and I do not subscribe to even the idea of political parties, much less to an -ism but the species simply will not survive the depradations of those who insist that they must have more and more while others have less and less. What kind of shit is that? Dave Nellist, God bless him, at least speaks the truth of his own futility.

As to Orkney, I lived formerly on the edge of the Vale of Evesham, ArchersLand, and even there the blight of the angry city was merciless and I came here sight unseen, foot unset. How's that for political cowardice, deserting Decency's barricades and becoming a cyber-beachcomber? I have nightmares, really, I do, about finding myself living in Walsall or Edgbaston and I awake sweating.

The edge of the ocean, or the wilderness, you should try it.

SG said...

Indeed Mr I. However, I sometimes think that these few pearls that we find seem brighter than they really are when juxtaposed against the sea of shit and slime in which they float. I watched the proceedings of the Politics Studies Association on the SNPBC Parliament Channel just now, egg-heads PowerPointing us on forecasting methodologies and outcomes, fan charts etc. The conclusion I drew was that 90% of Political 'Scientists' are follically challenged - I knew there was a reason why I never made it in that 'profession'...
