PRIME MINISTER'S EVENSONG (UNELECTED) Warren Zevon - My Shit's Fucked Up
Like many who call themselves creative, Zevon was an arsehole but many of his songs are fine and brave and honest. I saw him in 2000 at warwick, going through the motions and many of his youtube clips are also desultory. His recordings,though, crackle and sparkle with rage-at-ruin, delivered with the virtuosity of the clasical pianist he was.
I thought it was a fitting title for Flashman; he never had much shit to start with, but what little he had is now well fucked-up.
This should be our national anthem.
